CITB Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme - SSSTS (2 Days) 

The Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course has been designed to meet the needs of site supervisors within the construction industry. This course is for first line managers – those who have to, or are about to, acquire supervisory responsibilities. The course aims to highlight the need for risk assessment in the workplace, implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication and monitoring in order to provide and maintain positive standards of health, safety and welfare on a construction site.

The course is designed to ensure that candidates have an overview and understanding of their responsibility for supervising and helping to oversee safety in a construction site environment. The course is an ideal lead in for delegates who will go on to attend the 5-day site managers SMSTS Training course at a later stage of their career development. Course Objectives: Upon completion of the SSSTS training course, candidates will be able to: - Understand the problems of the industry; - Appreciate how health and safety law is structured; - Identify how their supervisory role fits into that of the manager in controlling site safety; - Carry out risk assessments and understand the need for method statements; - Carry out site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings; - Understand what is meant by proactive and reactive monitoring and appreciate their need. Training Course Content: The main topics covered by the SSSTS training course syllabus will be best practice in areas such as: - Construction Accidents: types, numbers and immediate and underlying causes - Health and Safety Legal System - Acts, Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice and Guidance Notes Risk Assessment in areas such as: - Work at height - Demolition - Noise - Occupational Health - Fire - Control of contractors - Electricity - Confined Spaces Course 

Course Assessment: There is a 30 minute, 25 question, objective multiple-choice examination at the end of the course. Successful candidates will be awarded the Site Safety Plus CITB Site Supervisor Safety Training Certificate which is valid for five years.

Please note that as of the 1st January 2016, CITB Site Management / Site Supervisor certificates will no longer have a six month grace period and candidates will need to attend a Refresher course before the expiry date of their original certificate. 

CITB Site Safety Plus (1 Day)

 What is the Health and Safety Awareness course? This one day course can be for those who have entered, or are about to enter, the construction and civil engineering industry. The course gives delegates an awareness of health and safety and how it affects their daily role. It can be used as preparation training for the CITB Health, safety and environment test or as refresher training.

This course is the first step in the progressive CITB Site Safety Plus suite of courses that range from training for operatives into the industry up to senior manager / director. Entry Requirements The minimum entry equipment is a good understanding of spoken and written English. Course Programme: Successful candidates will gain knowledge and skills in: - Their individual responsibilities for their own safety and the safety of others - Typical construction hazards and how these are controlled - How everyone can help achieve better practical standards of safety on site - Legal requirements and liabilities - Working at height - Manual Handling - Fire prevention - Work equipment - Occupational Health Training Methods: This is a highly interactive course delivered by means of case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual/group presentations. Candidates will be continuously assessed and will have to successfully complete a multiple-choice test. 

Course Times Usually 8.30am - 4.30pm. Course times will be confirmed in the joining instructions once the course has been booked. 

CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme - SMSTS (5 Days)

Course Times: Approximately 08:45-16:00 (please check joining instructions to confirm) This five-day course is designed for construction site managers, agents, quantity surveyors, construction directors and project directors, and persons who are, or are about to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff and workforce. 

The course covers all relevant legislation and other issues that affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. Course Summary: There are several topics that are covered and based upon on the Health and Safety at Work Act and Regulations including: - CDM - Excavations and demolition - Site set up - Working in confined spaces - Scaffolding - Working at height - Asbestos - COSHH - Method Statements and Risk Assessment All of the course materials are included in the price of the course to be used for the duration of the course. Candidates will be provided with a copy of the CITB Construction Skills GE700 manual.

Certification Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a CITB accredited certificate which is valid for five years.
